Simon Hallett is the Vice Chairman of Harding Loevner which has about 70 billion under management and focuses on international, EM and Global investing. The firm has a unique active collaborative process that is focused on eliminating biases and emotions from the investment process, and Simon is largely responsible for this culture and methodology. Almost everything they do relates back to behavioral finance and Simon is excellent when discussing their systematic approach to active investing and where the very “human” elements can cause problems. Simon also is the Chairman/Owner of Plymouth Argyle, an English League One soccer team he grew up rooting for, and has lots to say about the similarities between running the football club and running other people’s money.
