Joel Litman

President and CEO of Valens Research

As Altimetry's chief investment strategist, Professor Joel Litman advises individual investors in equities, corporate credit, and macroeconomic strategy. He is also the president and CEO of Valens Research.

He is a member of COL Financial Group's board of directors (a leading brokerage firm in Asia), the CFA Institute (the global association for Chartered Financial Analysts), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is also a certified public accountant ("CPA"), and he received a B.S. in accounting from DePaul University and an MBA/MM from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Joel has taught or guest lectured at Harvard Business School, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, London Business School, Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and others. He is a professor at Hult International Business School, which boasts an international MBA program top-ranked by the Financial Times and the Economist. He conducts seminars regularly for financial and industry conferences around the world, such as CFA and CPA chapters. And he is chair of the UAFRS Advisory Council, which spearheads the usage of Uniform Adjusted Financial Reporting Standards (also known as Uniform Accounting).

Additionally, he helped build Credit Suisse's HOLT University and Driehaus College of Commerce at DePaul University's Center for Strategy, Execution and Valuation MBA concentration. His past employment includes Credit Suisse, Diamond Management & Technology (now PwC), Deloitte, and American Express.

Joel has been on CNBC, quoted in Barron's and Institutional Investor, and interviewed in Forbes. He has published in Harvard Business Review, is a top contributor to Seeking Alpha, and co-authored the highly acclaimed book, DRIVEN: Business Strategy, Human Actions, and the Creation of Wealth.

His philanthropic work focuses on community development through scholarships, job training programs, and extensive microfinance lending – particularly in the Philippines.
